Lake Outdoor Advertising is a family owned and operated business serving the Chicago area. Our name may be new but many of our signs have been here for decades. Our company recently acquired the inventory of United Billboard Co. after the unexpected passing of founder, Elden “El” Williams, in the summer of 2007. United Billboard Co. had been in the outdoor advertising industry for over 50 years in the Chicago area.

Most local business owners feel that billboard advertising has become too expensive for the average advertiser. Rates on larger signs have increased to the point where the local advertiser can no longer afford the medium of billboard. As a consequence, many local advertisers end up structuring their advertising budget too heavily toward print, radio or television. Community billboard advertising is designed to create an affordable billboard medium for the local advertiser that doesn’t bankrupt their advertising budget.

Likewise, many larger advertisers targeting specific Chicagoans are disheartened with larger billboards. They may be paying a premium for larger billboards even though those signs are designed for directional advertising. Directional advertising targets all drivers and directs them where to go to eat or sleep and are great for restaurants or hotels. But what if you are advertising a local mortgage company, construction company or car dealership? What if you are specifically targeting a local demographic? What happens to those thousands of dollars you have spent that are being directed toward people in their cars simply passing through Chicago? The millions of people just passing through would never be interested in your product or service because they would never use your product or service.
